The MediStuds®
All MediStuds® and clasps are pre-sterilized and are manufactured with surgical stainless steel, and then plated with 24K gold. There is no nickel in the gold plating process.
Release/Hold Harmless Agreement
You must agree to the following in order for us to do your ear piercing:
- I am of legal age; if not, parent must sign agreement.
- I acknowledge that I am not suffering from ANY MEDICAL DISORDER or taking ANY MEDICATION.
- I understand that the possibility of infection may exist due to improper hygiene, metal sensitivity or other causes.
- I understand that my ears are going to be pierced with sterile, stainless steel, ear piercing studs.
- I AGREE TO FOLLOW THE SIMPLE PROCEDURES¹ FOR THE CARE OF MY PIERCED EARS FOR THE PERIOD RECOMMENDED IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE CHANCE OF INFECTION.
¹Aftercare Instructions
- Cleanse front and back earlobes at least twice a day with a cotton ball or tissue saturated with MediSystem® PIERCED EAR ANTISEPTIC solution WITHOUT REMOVING EARRINGS. Then rotate ear piercing studs two or three times.
- Keep hairspray, soap, shampoo and other hair preparations away from the ear. After shampooing, the earlobe should be thoroughly rinsed with Pierced Ear Antiseptic.
- The training stud should not be removed for six weeks. After six (6) weeks the training stud can be removed and other post type earrings may be worn. However, some type of post earring should be worn at all times for the first six (6) months. The post should be 14KT gold or 24KT gold plated surgical stainless steel. CAUTION - Sensitivity to metal could develop after your ears are pierced. No wire style earrings should be worn for at least four (4) months after the ears have been pierced.
- SHOULD EXCESSIVE REDNESS, IRRITATION, ITCHING OR SORENESS OCCUR at any time during the first six (6) weeks, REMOVE THE MEDISTUDS®, DISCONTINUE USE AND CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN.
MediStuds® Product Information
MediStuds® ear piercing studs are manufactured to meet strict FDA requirements. MediStuds® are not jewelry, they are sterile, disposable ear piercing studs designed specifically to pierce ears. The studs and the clasps are manufactured with surgical stainless steel.
MediStuds® are available in two finishes, 24K plated gold and polished surgical stainless steel. Those interested in the gold finish should be aware that ear piercing studs plated in 24K gold are preferred by physicians over inferior grades of gold plating, because of its purity. Lesser K gold should not be used for piercing.
The overall diameter of the MediStud® ear piercing stud is 4mm. The diameter of the post of the stud is twice the diameter of a typical fashion earring. The larger diameter MediStud® post is essential because it creates a larger hole in the ear lobe to allow safe trouble insertion of permanent earrings after the 6 week training period. The hole will then close down naturally to the size of the permanent earrings within four weeks.
